PASSOVER

Passover is coming up and, as always, I seek inspiration from some of my favorite creatives. The rituals of the holiday seder (translated to "order" in English) are extensive and repetitive from year to year, but I always want to make the environment and the table for the celebration special, fresh, and inviting.

The American writer Frances Mayes said: "Anytime the perfume of orange and lemon groves wafts in the window; the human body has to feel suffused with a languorous well-being.” The dreariness of winter brings on dreams of traveling to places where I can experience that. I know that sunny days will soon be upon us, but until then I'll just pin some more happy citrus-ful images.

City of
Light
Ever since my first visit in 2014, I regularly crave a trip to Paris. Perhaps, I was a Parisian in a previous life ;) A year ago, my husband and I wanted to visit our older daughter in Europe when she was spending a semester in London. We decided to meet her in Paris and introduce her to the beautiful City of Light. Our youngest daughter joined us too. What memories we made! Exploring the city on foot, museums, checking out the kosher scene, people watching, and endless baguette with butter (of course).

the season of our rejoicing
I'm thinking of and gathering up ideas for the upcoming holiday of Sukkot. The Jewish people will celebrate it, this year, in October. On Sukkot, we build temporary dwellings called "sukkah." We decorate them, eat our meals in them, and spend time with family and friends. The sukkah reminds us of the
"You shall dwell in Sukkot seven days, every citizen in Israel shall dwell in Sukkot, so that your descendants shall know that in sukkot I caused the Children of Israel to dwell when I brought them out of the land of Egypt."
(Leviticus, 23:42, 43)
